Although photographers
must be concerned with equipment and technique, they sometime
forget that photography is a means of self-expression which involves
one crucial element above all others: composition.
This is a 3-day composition workshop for all levels of artists
working with 2-dimensional art forms. During an intensive weekend
exploration of composition, participants will progress from basic
design elements through advanced compositional techniques and
end with a discussion focusing on application of the painting
techniques of Chinese watercolor artist Hokusai and Southwest
artist Georgia O’Keefe to extend harmony and balance to
photographic composition. The result is renewed excitement and
a fresh perspective. The workshop will include an extensive slide
presentation, group critique and field sessions at White Sands
National Monument.
